PORVOO, FINLAND: Neste Jacobs Oy said that it has been awarded engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) contract from Borealis, for the upgrade and revamp the four cracker furnaces in Stenungsund, Sweden - to the highest standards in process safety and energy efficiency.
The investment programme involves revamping four of the current six furnaces and shutting down completely the two remaining, ageing ones. The project investment value is €160 million and it is scheduled to begin in late 2015 and be completed by 2020.
Neste Jacobs will carry out the project from its offices in Sweden and Finland.

“Neste Jacobs has carried out already a significant part of the basic engineering of our cracker furnace revamp project and on the basis of this good co-operation; we want Neste Jacobs to carry out the implementation phase as well,” said Johann Berger, VP, technical development and engineering of Borealis.
