Neste Jacobs bags Socar’s new ammonia-urea unit contract in Azerbaijan

PORVOO, FINLAND: Engineering company Neste Jacobs Oy said that Socar, the state oil company of the Azerbaijan Republic has awarded it a project management consultancy (PMC) contract, to co-ordinate third party inspections for Socar in constructing a greenfield ammonia-urea fertilizer plant in Sumgayit, Azerbaijan.

Also the works under the EPC contract for the plant project are estimated at approximately €622 million. When functioning the new ammonia-urea complex will produce 1,200 tonne of ammonia and 2,000 tonne of urea per day, it said.

“It is worth mentioning, that this is an important project also for Neste Jacobs from strategy point of view which is calling for expansion to serve the entire chemical industry value chain,” said Jarmo Suominen, managing director, Neste Jacobs.

“Neste Jacobs’ great expertise and competitive edge in providing internationally recognized project management solutions and services played a key role in the final decision making,” said Khayal Jafarov, ammonia-urea complex director, Socar.
