Omkar Speciality Chemicals acquires LASA Lab for $ 1.14 million

BADLAPUR, INDIA: Omkar Speciality Chemicals has forayed into the pharmaceutical space by acquiring LASA Laboratory, located at Mahad in Raigad district. The lab is an established player in anthelmintic/veterinary API segment with its state-of-the-art API manufacturing facility. The above acquisition will enable Omkar to focus on manufacturing anthelmintics, such as Albendazol EP, Albendazole IP/USP, cyromazine, Fenbendazole, BP VET/EP, Nitroxnil BP Vet, Ricobendazole, Toldimphos Sodium and Triclabendazole.

According to Pravin Herlekar, Chairman and Managing Director, Omkar Speciality Chemicals, LASA Lab is an attractive buy for the company as it is an established player in the API segment. Acquiring LASA Lab for Rs 6 crore ($1.14 million), Omkar will initially focus on continuing the existing API business.

“We have already planned a major expansion in LASA Labs whereby we will be enhancing the capacity from the existing levels of 100 metric tonne per year to roughly about 400 metric tonne per year because we can see that there is market demand for the products being made in LASA Lab,” said Herlekar.
