Petrobras discovers natural gas and light oil accumulation in Espirito Santo

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL: Petrobras announces the discovery of a new light oil and natural gas accumulation in the Golfinho Concession. The discovery was made during drilling of well, known as Tambuata. The well is located 74 kilometre off the Espirito Santo coast, and 7 kilometre from FPSO Cidade de Vitoria, in the eastern side of Golfinho field, at a water depth of 1,520 metre.

Well drilling will continue to a depth of 6,100 metre in order to test deeper formations. Reservoirs from the cretaceous period, Santonian age (between 85.8 and 83.5 million years ago) were identified and are already producing in the field, at a depth between 4,530 and 4,670 metre, and in good conditions for production. This undertaking is part of the Varredura project, a programme designed to boost the production of hydrocarbons in new discoveries close to existing production systems.
