PolyOne to distribute Dow Corning’s medical grade silicone products in China

MIDLAND, US: Dow Corning Corporation has appointed PolyOne Distribution as its distributor for medical grade silicone products in Greater China. The agreement is intended to expand the opportunities for manufacturers of healthcare products in the region to benefit from a wider range of Dow Corning brand specialty silicone products. Both companies see strong potential in the Greater China region for growing their respective businesses and meeting customer and patient needs in drug delivery, medical devices and pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical processing.

The addition of Dow Corning brand silicones to the PolyOne Distribution portfolio broadens the ability of both companies to support healthcare customers in China. PolyOne will offer a single channel for thermoplastic and thermoset resins used in medical applications. Customers will also gain from expanded healthcare-focused resources to accelerate product development and regulatory compliance.

“Dow Corning has many years of experience of working in China to support locally companies and multinationals in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors with our expertise and silicone materials. As China has grown, we’ve seen how the needs have also grown for more effective and safer materials to improve patient care and the quality of life. Our agreement with PolyOne Distribution will enable us to demonstrate the benefits of silicone materials to an even greater number of companies, particularly those US companies that have facilities in China,” said Vincent Chang, Healthcare Commercial Manager for Asia, Dow Corning.
