Sahara restarts Al Waha polypropylene complex at Jubail

JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: Sahara Petrochemicals has gradually re-started operations at its Al Waha subsidiary’s Jubail, Saudi Arabia based propane dehydrogenation and polypropylene (PP) manufacturing complex. Al Waha had taken the complex off line on July 16 to repair a technical fault in the recycle effluent compressor (REC). This led to the interruption of production processes in all operating units.

The company missed opportunity for the production of nearly 16,000 tonne of polypropylene, that equivalent of 940,00,000 SR of polypropylene prices currently prevailing in the third quarter which will affect the expected profits in the third quarter of this year. Sahara has a 75 per cent stake in Al Waha and LyondellBasell holds the rest.
