JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi Kayan, a joint venture between SABIC and Al-Kayan Petrochemical, has awarded a site logistics contract for its new ethanolamines and ethoxylates facility at Al-Jubail, to an affiliate of Alfred Talke. The amines and ethoxylates facility, which is part of Saudi Kayan’s new 5 million tonne per year complex, is expected to start up in the first half of 2012.
“Alfred Talke will also provide material handling 300,000 tonne per year low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant in Mesaieed. The QAPCO plant is expected to come on stream this year. By 2012, Alfred Talke expects to be handling 4.5 million tonne per year of material in the Gulf Cooperation Council,” said Richard Heath, Director for Middle East and Asia, Alfred Talke.
Alfred Talke is in discussions with Saudi Kayan regarding the materials handling for additional plants. The company will provide material handling for a major new project in Jubail with a combined polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene capacity of 1.7 million tonne per year.
