TOKYO, JAPAN: Sekisui DLJM Molding Private Limited, a joint venture company of Sekisui Chemical Co Ltd said that it will establish a fourth plant in India.
Located in Mandal, Gujarat, the plant will manufacture and sell injection molded parts for interior and exterior vehicle components. Total investment in the new plant will be approximately 900 million yen, and operations are scheduled to start in April 2020.
Sekisui Chemical’s High-Performance Plastics Company has positioned the injection molding business within the vehicle and transport field, which is a strategic sector, as a key business.
With the aim of expanding this business in emerging markets, Sekisui DLJM Molding was established in India as a joint venture with Dipty Lal Judge Mal Private Limited, a local company, in August 2011 and commenced operations.
Since then, the scale of business has expanded in conjunction with increasing motorization in India, and the new plant will be established in the northwest of India to respond to expected increases in demand in the future. As a result, production capacity in India will increase by approximately 20 percent and business will expand even further.
