Shin-Etsu to increase capacity of chlor-alkali, VCM, PVC in Louisiana, US

HOUSTON, US: Shintech Inc, US Group of Shin-Etsu Chemical, will further increase the production capacity of chlor-alkali, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and poly vinyl chloride (PVC) at its production site in the State of Louisiana, US. Upon expansion, the plant will produce about 200,000 tonne per year of caustic soda, 300,000 tonne per year of vinyl chloride monomer and 300,000 tonne per year of PVC. The expansion is in accordance with the growing worldwide demand for PVC. The $500 million expansion is expected to be completed by 2015.
