TOKYO, JAPAN: Showa Denko KK reported consolidated earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2010. For the period, the company reported net income of ¥12,706 million or ¥8.49 basic earnings per share on net sales of ¥797,189 million compared to net loss of ¥37,981 million or ¥29.44 basic loss per share on net sales of ¥678,204 million for the same period a year ago. Ordinary income was ¥30,471 million compared to operating loss of ¥4,983 million for the same period a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was ¥66,293 million and purchase of property, plant and equipment was ¥48,823 million compared to net cash used in operating activities of ¥19,846 million and purchase of property, plant and equipment was ¥39,240 million for the same period a year ago.
For the first half of fiscal 2011, the company expects net income of ¥6,500 million or ¥4.3 per share on net sales of ¥415,000 million with an operating income to be ¥17,000 million. For the year ending December 31, 2011, the company expects net income of ¥21,000 million or ¥14.03 per share on net sales of ¥870,000 million. The operating income is expected to be ¥45,000 million. Also for the year 2010, the company announced dividend of ¥3.0 per share. For the year ending December 31, 2011, the company expects dividend of ¥3.0 per share.
