Sinochem, Solvay to co operate in areas of green chemical

BEIJING, CHINA: Sinochem Group said it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Solvay SA for strategic cooperation in areas of fine chemical, in particular green chemical and establish long-term stable cooperative partnership step by step.

The MoU was signed 23 June, witnessed by Chinese president Xi Jinping and the King of Belgium Philippe Leopold Louis Marie. Chairman of Sinochem Group, Liu Deshu and CEO of Solvay SA, Jean-Pierre Clamadieu, signed their names on the MoU. Zhang Zenggen, assistant president, Sinochem Group and chairman of Sinochem International (Holdings) Co Ltd attended the signing ceremony.

Sinochem Group also signed a MoU on ECH project with Solvay SA on 24 June. Cai Xiyou, president of Sinochem Group, met with Jean-Pierre Clamadieu and his team and attended the signing ceremony between Sinochem International (Holdings) Co Ltd, a listed company held by Sinochem Group, and Solvay SA.

Both companies will promote the cleaning process with ECH and glycerinum to ensure the sustainable development of such green environmental-friendly technique in China, so as to constantly improve the competitiveness of epikote industry in China.

Besides, both parties will cooperate in areas including technical exchange and intellectual property rights, and study on the project of producing ECH in biological method. Zenggen and Vincent De Cuyper, executive director, Solvay SA attended the meeting and the signing ceremony.

Sinochem Group and Solvay SA are complementary to each other in business. In recent years, the two parties have developed close cooperative relations in fluorine chemical, fine chemicals, among other areas, and conducted extensive exchanges in chemical fertilizer, seeds and other agricultural input category areas, Sinochem said.
