Stamicarbon Signs Agreement with Czech Republic Based Company Chemoprojekt

SITTARD, THE NETHERLANDS: Stamicarbon, the Licensing and IP Centre of Maire Tecnimont SpA, has signed a contract with Chemoprojekt, Czech Republic, covering the license and process design package for a revamp of the existing urea melt plant of Azomures SA at Targu Mures, Romania, and for a new granulation plant alongside it.

For the revamp Stamicarbon will use its Pool Reactor design, changing the synthesis plant from a conventional 1970s design to a Urea 2000Plus Pool Reactor CO2 stripping plant. The revamp will also increase the capacity of the plant from its current 900 metric tonne per day to a capacity of 1425 metric tonne per day.

For the granulation plant the latest Stamicarbon granulation technology will be used. This technology will help Azomures comply with environmental requirements regarding dust and ammonia emissions. The granulation plant will also have a capacity of 1425 metric tonne per day granulated urea. Start-up is planned for 2015.
