Stamicarbon to supply high-pressure equipment for SFP in Bangladesh

SITTARD, THE NETHERLANDS: Stamicarbon, the Licensing and IP Centre of Maire Tecnimont SpA, has signed a contract with China Chengda Engineering Company (CHENGDA) for the supply of high-pressure proprietary equipment for the Shahjalal Fertilizer Project (SFP) in Bangladesh. This contract follows on from the license and PDP agreement signed at the beginning of this year with CHENGDA and China National Plant Import & Export Corporation (COMPLANT) for the design of the urea synthesis and urea granulation plant for this project.

The plant will be operated by BCIC on behalf of the Bangladeshi government and will be located adjacent to the existing Natural Gas Fertilizer Factory Ltd (NGFF) at Fenchuganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh. The urea plant synthesis and granulation units will each have a capacity of 1760 metric tonne per day.

The urea plant will use Stamicarbon’s Urea2000Plus technology, which features Stamicarbon’s unique pool reactor. Reliable and high-quality HP equipment is crucial to ensure safe, long and successful operation of a urea plant. Stamicarbon directly supplies Safurex-protected proprietary equipment based on its unmatched expertise and experience in design, engineering and fabrication acquired in the course of many urea plant projects. Start-up is planned in 2015.
