Technip bags ethylbenzene and styrene monomer plant contract in China

SHANGHAI, CHINA: Technip has been awarded by Qingdao Soda Ash Industrial & New Material Technology Company a contract for the supply of technology, engineering, critical equipment and technical services for a factory and ethylbenzene styrene monomer a capacity of 500 kilo tonne per annum. It will be built in the port industrial zone Dongjiakou, Qingdao in Shandong Province, People's Republic of China. Plant products will be used for the manufacture of a wide range of plastics.

Technip’s operating center in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, will be in charge of the project. The technology for the plant will be supplied by Badger Licensing LLC.

“This project will be one of the largest factories of ethylbenzene and styrene monomer in China, and the second such plant 500 kilo tonne per annum country Badger to use technology. The Badger advanced technology, but also the reputation, experience and the competitive nature of the offer Technip were all major factors to win this contract,” said Stan Knez, Senior Vice President, Technip Stone & Webster Process Technology.
