Tecnimont bags LDPE plant contract in Mexico

MILAN, ITALY: Tecnimont SpA, subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont SpA, has won a contract on a reimbursable basis Engineering & Procurement (EP) for the construction of a unit of polyethylene low density polyethylene (LDPE) by etileno XXI Services BV. The LDPE unit with capacity of 300 thousand tonne per year will be built as part of the petrochemical complex etileno XXI.

Etileno XXI, developed by Braskem Idesa, is located in Nanchital, Veracruz (Mexico). It is expected that the project will generate more than 8,000 jobs during the construction phase and 3,000 jobs in 2015, once in operation. This project fits into the strategy of the Mexican government to promote the competitiveness of the sector and industrial development at the local level.

The unit of low-density polyethylene will use technology Lupotech T LyondellBasell Industries and the value of the contract amounts to $191, 4 million (€147 million). Engineering and Procurement activities will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2014.
