BANDIRMA, TURKEY: Bandirma Gubre Fabrikalari AS (BAGFAS), a company based in Bandirma, Turkey, awarded ThyssenKrupp Uhde a contract to supply a plant for the production of calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) fertiliser in 2012. The contract is worth an approximate total of €141 million. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2015.

The new complex will comprise a nitric acid plant with a capacity of 1,195 tonne per day. This nitric acid can optionally be used to produce 2,000 tonne per day of granular CAN fertiliser with a nitrogen content of 26 per cent or 1,550 tonne per day of ammonium nitrate (AN) fertiliser. In addition, ThyssenKrupp Uhde is also engineering and supplying an atmospheric ammonia storage tank with a capacity of 20,000 tonne.

This plant contract impressively underlines our capability and competitiveness in the field of nitrate fertiliser plants,” said Alfred Hoffmann, Member of the Executive Board, ThyssenKrupp Uhde.
