TAIPEI, TAIWAN: Following production expansion in Liaoyang in Northeastern China, UPC Technology Corp, will invest $ 125 million to expand output of phthalic anhydride (PA) and dioctyl phthalate (DOP) in Nanchong, Sichuan province, China.

UPC said it will set up a PA line with annual capacity reaching 60,000 metric tonne and another DOP line with annual capacity of 120,000 metric tonne, the completion of which will make UPC the global leader in PA and DOP production.

With 30 per cent market share in China, UPC’s DOP output totals 950,000 metric tonne and PA 385,000 metric tonne, accounting for 85 per cent and 90 per cent of the company’s total output.

Also UPC has invested in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production by setting up a plant in Taizhou, Jiangsu province with annual capacity reaching 300,000 metric tonne, with volume production to turn the company into an integrated producer of petrochemicals.
