US majors Johnson & Johnson and Hilliard Energy to invest in India

BANGALORE, INDIA: As India’s prime minister Narendra Modi, prepares to make his second big pitch to attract investment from US companies, he will definitely want to mention the fact that US investment in India has jumped in the past year, reported a leading English daily newspaper in the country.

The pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson and power producer Hilliard Energy are also a part of the several success stories of recent US investment in India, which includes IT majors such as Cisco and Google.

One of Johnson & Johnson’s biggest manufacturing facility in India is set to come up in the state of Telangana with an investment of $65.6 million. Spread over 48 acres, the plant will be operational from 2016 and will employ 1,500 people.

With an investment of $600 million Hilliard Energy will set up 500MW solar and 150MW wind energy projects in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The other companies that have planned investments in India are Microsoft, Uber Technologies, General Motors and Mars.
