Aix Marseille University was founded in 2011. It is a public research university located in Provence, southern France. The university entered into force on 1 January 2012, replacing the University of Provence, the Mediterranean and Paul Cezanne. Today is one of the youngest universities in France; it also has the largest number of students. It is also the largest French-speaking University. The university has remarkable results in the field of education and research. It is known as an institution of higher education and research excellence. The Chemistry Department is one of the seven departments of the Faculty of Sciences. The department consists of qualified faculty. The department offers bachelor, master and doctoral programs in chemistry. The Chemistry Department is associated with a significant research potential consists of four research laboratories under contract with the CNRS: Radical Chemistry Institute (ICR), the Institute for Molecular Science of Marseille (ISM2), the Chemical Laboratory Environment (LCE) and the laboratory "Divided Materials, Interfaces, Reactivity, Electrochemistry" (MADIREL) and a university laboratory: Laboratory Instrumentation and Analytical Sciences (LISA).
