Appalachian State University was founded in 1899. The university is a comprehensive, public, coeducational university located in Boone, North Carolina, United States. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Chemistry is housed in the Chemistry, Astronomy and Physics building, better known as the CAP building. Laboratories are equipped with modern instrumentation which is used regularly by faculty and students. The primary focus for the department is the education of students majoring in chemistry, who are interested in pursuing careers as professional chemists, secondary school teachers, or healthcare professionals. In addition we also provide education for non-science students and other science majors.
