Bradley University was founded in 1897. It is a private, mid-sized university in Peoria, Illinois. The university is offering undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs in the liberal and fine arts, the sciences, business, communications, education, engineering, technology and the health sciences. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry provides rigorous classroom education and practical laboratory training of undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry. The Department recognizes the important role of research to chemical education and to the professional development of its faculty. The department has three primary educational responsibilities: to provide professional education for majors and minors, to offer service courses for students in cognate fields, and to offer courses in support of General Education. These functions are carried out in the classroom and laboratory, as well as the research arena. The faculty is dedicated teachers and respected scholars in their disciplines. The department offers introductory and advanced classes in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. The Laboratory instruction occurs in state-of-the-art facilities, equipped with modern high-tech instrumentation. Most majors elect to participate in a one-on-one mentored research experience with a faculty member.
