Cornell College

Cornell College was founded in 1853. It is a private liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The college offers more than 40 academic majors and pre-professional programs, and an unlimited number of individualized majors. Cornell professors are accomplished researchers, scholars, and above all, mentors. They hold the highest degree in their fields. The Biochemistry & Molecular Biology division offers major program in biochemistry. The interdisciplinary program is designed to prepare students for graduate school or a technical career in biochemistry/molecular biology. The Department of Chemistry at Cornell College has been certified by the American Chemical Society for the professional training of chemists at the undergraduate level. Cornell's small class sizes and One Course at a time schedule allow the classes to become tight learning communities. Students have the opportunity to work in small groups with faculty mentors during summer research. Faculty is all professional scientists with meaningful and varied research interests.
