The Fourth Military Medical University was founded in 1941. It is a national key military institution of higher learning for training middle-and-high level military medical workers for the People's Liberation Army (PLA). The School of Pharmacy was founded in 2004 . It is one of the newest schools in the Fourth Military Medical University (FMMU). Through its education, research, and service programs, the School of Pharmacy strives to improve the health and well-being of society by aiding in the discovery, development, and use of medicines. Over the past four years, the School of Pharmacy has built a reputation for cutting-edge research, rigorous programs, and outstanding faculty, staff, and students. The School consists of eight departments, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical analysis, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacogenomics, and Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Administration. Centers provide faculty and students with access to sophisticated equipment and numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary research. The School also supports and conducts research in drug discovery, disposition, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, drug-drug interaction, and development, and in pharmaceutical outcomes research to improve decision-making regarding pharmaceutical therapy and policy.
