King's College London

King's College London was founded by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington (then Prime Minister) in 1829 as a university college in the tradition of the Church of England. It now welcomes staff and students of all faiths and beliefs. The Chemistry department is a new department and Research Division within the School of Biomedical Sciences. Formed in 2012 as a focus for further development of chemistry teaching and research, it also aims to integrate existing academic chemistry activity contributing to other parts of the College. It is the home of a new and innovative four-year degree course, MSci/BSc in Chemistry with Biomedicine, which is unique in the UK in its approach to teaching chemistry foundations rigorously while placing a strong emphasis on chemical applications to biomedical problems. Chemistry research at King’s covers a broad range of subjects, from medicinal chemistry and drug development through drug analysis to radiochemistry, chemical biology, medical imaging, materials science, biomolecular structure and computational modelling.
