KU was established in October 1966 under Act N. 29/1966 regarding the organization of higher education. The Department of Chemistry, created with the opening of the University of Kuwait in 1966 ,gives courses on different branches of chemistry within the specific programs of study. The Department of Chemistry has grown side by side with the development of the college and university in the academic and administrative areas. The Department of Chemistry submits two Bachelor degrees, one in chemistry and other in Applied chemistry. The implementation of the former program has begun since the inception of the department and aims to produce graduate chemists to work in the centers of scienctific productivity and research in various sectors and institutions of the state . The latter was introduced during the academic year 2008 / 2007. The aim of the Applied Chemistry program is to prepare chemists to be able to contribute effectively in the development programs and productivity of the State through the application of technological and industrial chemistry in the various branches of industrial, regulatory, environmental, medical and forensic evidence units. The department provides great services to the university and the community by offering specialized training courses for different state institutions and providing assistance in the analysis of samples by laboratory analysis automation (ANALAB & SAF), in collaboration with the Department of the college and unit management research university as well as the graduate cadres, educated and specialized in a position to work and give in different areas.
