Nagoya University

In 1942, the School of Science and Engineering was divided into the School of Engineering and the School of Science, and the name of the university was changed to Nagoya University in 1947. With the educational reform, the former Nagoya University, the attached medical school, the Eighth Higher School, the Nagoya Commercial College and the Okazaki Higher Normal School were integrated in 1949, and Nagoya University commenced under a new system of 6 Schools. Chemistry classroom in the Department of Science at Nagoya University began when three courses were opened on April 1, 1942. At that time there were only 13 members of faculty. The Department of Applied Chemistry consits of three research groups including nine laboratories, and we also cooperate with our related ten laboratories in the Department of Molecular Design and Engineering, the Department of Crystalline Materials Science, and the EcoTopia Science Institute.
