The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University can be traced back to the founding of the Government Trade School in 1937. Situated in Wood Road, Wanchai, the School was the first publicly funded, post-secondary technical institution in Hong Kong. The mission of the university is to nurture graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders, to advance knowledge and the frontiers of technology to meet the changing needs of society and to support a University community in which all members can excel through education and scholarship. Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology endeavors in cutting-edge researches across multi-disciplines.Taking advantages of our unique multi-disciplinary background that combines biological science, chemistry, and chemical engineering to develop cutting-edge researches in related fields, the Department has worked on collaborative projects with various research groups in the Faculty to bring about joint research cooperations between molecular biologists and chemists, biological scientists and chemical engineers, chemists and chemical engineers. We are aiming to further develop our multi-disciplinary researches by utilizing the diversified strengths of the University.
