The University of Turku was established in 1920. It has operatios all over Finland – from Utsjoki, Lappland to Finnish Archipelago Sea. The Biochemistry discipline is the oldest unit of the department and it was founded in 1957. The Chemistry is involved in major research topics cover the traditional sub-disciplines from inorganic and analytical chemistry to organic and physical chemistry. Apart from the department proving instruments for carrying out research, the research groups also have high-quality instruments of their own. The department has highly qualified staff.
