Faculty is committed to improve the student experience and strive to push research forward into unexplored molecular and cellular territories. The school has internationally recognised researchers in several areas, modern research facilities and a very successful record in research and biotechnology. The school of Biochemistry and Cell Biology contributes to internationally recognised teaching and research programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The school offers a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry. The Department of Process and Chemical Engineering offers undergraduate and post graduate programs. The Department of Chemistry at University College Cork is the first Irish Chemistry Department to have its courses formally accredited by the leading professional body for Chemistry, the Royal Society of Chemistry, and still the only Department in Ireland where pure ‘Chemistry’ is accredited as a degree programme, along with the ever popular ‘Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds’ and ‘Chemistry with Forensic Science’. The department offers several undergraduate degrees with different emphases to match the interests and career aspirations of students: BSc in Chemistry, Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds, Chemical Physics, and Chemistry with Forensic Science.
