The University of Botswana was established on 1st July 1982. It was the first institution of higher education in Botswana.The Mission of the University of Botswana is to improve economic and social conditions for the Nation. The Department of Chemistry has highly qualified academic staff in various fields of chemistry. The Department offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees programmes. The Department’s other important goal is to improve scientific literacy in the society. The Department has a very well qualified and dedicated team of academic and technical staff with expertise in the diverse areas of specialization in the Structural Geology, Geophysics, Hydrogeology, Hydrology and Water Resources, and Hydro-geochemistry and core and support staff in Cartography, Remote Sensing and GIS areas.The mission of the Department of Geology is to excell in training geoscientists, in research that will advance knowledge in the geosciences for the betterment of Botswana, Southern Africa, humankind and the environment, and in the provision of professional services in the geosciences.
