Giessen University was founded in 1607. The university is officially called the Justus Liebig University Giessen (after its most famous faculty member, Justus von Liebig, the founder of modern agricultural chemistry and inventor of artificial fertiliser. It is one of the older universities in the German-speaking part of Europe. The university offers Bachelor's degree program and Masters courses. The department of chemistry offers BSc chemistry programs. This study offer is rounded off by a hands-on internship, in which students can gain practical and theoretical knowledge of the work processes in chemistry typical career fields.
