The University of Huddersfield has recently been awarded the prestigious award of Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards 2012. The University is also in the top 10 in England for teaching excellence and is ranked in the top 10 nationally for undergraduate and postgraduate employability, student placements in industry and the number of student and graduate businesses supported. The University has seven academic Schools. The department of Chemical and Biological Sciences has hosted vibrant research in chemistry since the 19th century, when they were at the forefront of dye and colour chemistry.  In the 21st century their research was more diverse, and was funded by Research Councils, international companies and other agencies.
