University of Natural Resource & Life Science

The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, BOKU was established in 1872. The university offers engineering degrees, both graduate and postgraduate, in the fields of agriculture, forestry and timber management, civil engineering and water management (including waste management), food science and biotechnology, and landscape architecture and conservation.The chemistry department serves as a central unit in teaching basic and advanced chemistry within all curricula of the university.  Food Chemistry Laboratory comprises the competent platform for several aspects of chemical food analyses ranging from fundamental issues and biochemistry up to protein and lipid analysis and molecular biology. It focuses on the development of appropriate analytical techniques applied to current topics in the area of food authenticity, food chemistry, nutrition science, and food technology. Furthermore, the analysis of favourable nutrients, but also harmful contaminants and residues in food is dealt with.
