University of Sharjah was founded in 1997. The university offers graduate and undergraduate programs. The Department of Chemistry offers a B.Sc. program in chemistry which is accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation, Ministry of Higher Education and scientific research,United Arab Emirates in 2006. The B.Sc. Chemistry program is designed in accordance with the mission and vision of the University and the college of sciences to meet the needs of the students, the chemistry community, and the society at large. Quality and excellence in both the curriculum and the instructional pedagogy are ensured. Student undertaking this program should complete a total of 123 credit hours, covered in eight semesters. The undergraduate students of the medicinal chemistry department receive a diverse educational experience at the interface between chemistry and biology that prepares them for the evolving multidisciplinary research of the drug design and discovery arena.
