Wayne State University

At Wayne State, students enjoy the benefits of studying at a large research institution while retaining the personalized attention of a small liberal arts college. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers majors, minors, and co-majors across 19 departments and more than a dozen programs, centers, and institutes, providing a broad-based liberal arts education. Each department within the college includes a dedicated advising staff to assist students in planning a course of study and to help make that important bridge from college to career. Wayne State University is a Carnegie I institution and the Chemistry Department maintains very productive graduate and undergraduate programs. Currently, the total graduate student population is about 170 and there are about 30 postdoctoral fellow researchers in the Department. During the past three years nearly 60 Ph.D.s and 150 Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry have been awarded. Last year our faculty members accounted for $9.49 million in research expenditures and five of our faculty members are listed among the 1,000 most-cited scientists in the world.
